God has called me to serve at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, CO. You’ll typically find me hanging out around campus or the sports facilities. I am so excited to be back at Mines for a THIRD year! I have a pretty cool story about how Jesus has impacted my own life and lead me to full time service, here in Colorado!
My Story
After some indecision, I started my college career at Moorpark College, where I played baseball and had an athletic training internship. Upon my time spent in community college, I was living a life not centered totally around Christ. I eventually transferred to Cal State Fullerton and went to school to become an Athletic Trainer. At the beginning of my time in Fullerton, I was not directly looking for a Catholic community to be apart of, but by the grace of God, a FOCUS missionary, named Ben, reached out and invited me into a Bible Study. Months and many hours spent in prayer later, I found myself leading a Bible Study, growing in friendship with others involved with ministry on campus, and then eventually applying to become a missionary. My desire to be a missionary stemmed from experiencing Christ’s love and mercy first hand as I decided to root myself back in Christ, and I want everyone to be able to experience the graces He gives us. Jeff Runyan is a 15-year veteran of FOCUS and currently serves as the Sr. Director of International Relations. Jeff has degrees in Spanish and Political Science and a certification in Latin American Studies from Colorado State University. As a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar, he studied in a post-graduate program in International Relations at the Pontifical Catholic University in Santiago, Chile. Jeff is also a Rotary World Peace Fellow and has received a certification in International Peace and Conflict Resolution from Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand. Jeff served as a missionary at the United States Air Force Academy and spent 10 years as the Director of FOCUS Missions.
