We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
Hey, my name is Matthew. I am a FOCUS Missionary from Prospect, Connecticut, and have been called to serve at Virginia Tech!
The Lord has called me to spread the gospel among college students. I am currently serving as a first-year missionary at Virginia Tech, located in Blacksburg, VA. Go Hokies!
I started taking my faith more seriously during my Junior year at UConn, when an invitation to join a bible study came my way. Witnessing the joy emanating from the students and missionaries at the Catholic center shocked me. Coming from a place of contentment myself, I desired to experience the joy they had. Through prayer and fellowship, I came to the profound realization that Jesus seeks a personal relationship with everyone, offering friendship, mercy and comfort, especially during challenging times. This understanding of Christ has motivated me to share Him with others, particularly college students who may find themselves in circumstances similar to what I once experienced.
“The mission of the Christian in the world is a mission for all, a mission of service, which excludes no one; it requires great generosity and in particular the gaze and heart turned heavenward to invoke the Lord’s help. There is so much need for Christians who bear witness to the Gospel with joy in everyday life. The disciples, sent by Jesus, ‘returned with joy’. When we do this, our heart fills with joy.” – Pope Francis
Upon accepting the invitation to serve as a FOCUS missionary, I made a decision to place my complete trust in Jesus Christ, relying on the spiritual and financial assistance provided by mission partners. I am so grateful for the remarkable individuals I have encountered thus far, who have graciously supported me on this journey. If you are interested in partnering with me, please reach out to me using the contact buttons above (email or phone symbol). It would be an honor to have you join me in the mission of proclaiming the message of Christ to all. Thank you for your consideration!

By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
