We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
Hi, my name is John Thomas. I am a FOCUS missionary.
“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.” John 15:4
God has called me to serve at the University of Texas at Dallas. Go Comets!! Jesus, through FOCUS, radically changed my life. Come find me on campus and lets talk about it!
I was raised Catholic, but for the longest time I was just merely checking the boxes. Into my first weeks of college, I was quick to seek fulfillment in earthly things that solely brought temporary fulfillment. I fell victim to “the church of me,” only choosing the parts of my faith that were convenient to me. Due to this, I had created a God-sized hole in myself while trying to fill it with man-made things. Thankfully, the Holy Spirit worked through a missionary who was able to show me the selfless love of the Father. After experiencing a true, virtuous friendship, I desired to run and push others closer to the Heart of Jesus.
By the grace of the Father, I continued to dive deeper and deeper into my faith and live in the light provided by Jesus. Now, as a FOCUS missionary, I desire to provide students with ability to experience the love of the Father and to radically chase the Heart of Jesus together.
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel: it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who has faith” Romans 1:16
Jesus told us, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19). On top of that, Jesus tells His disciples (us) to live off the generosity of others (Luke 10: 2-12). Jesus does not just ask some of us to evangelize, but He calls all of us to partake in the mission. I would love if you joined me on this mission to spread the Good News everywhere we go. Feel free to contact me in whichever way is best, and we can set up a time to talk! You can reach me at [email protected] or (270) 929-1770.
“The point is this: he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.” 2 Corinthians 9: 6
We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
