We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
Hello! I’m Blake Magill. This will be my first year serving as a FOCUS missionary. I am an amateur philosopher, lover of the outdoors, unapologetic history nerd, and son of God.
I currently serve at the University of Northern Iowa as a part-time missionary while I complete my student teaching. This coming spring, I will move to another campus somewhere in the United States to serve.
For most of my life, I was what I would call a “part-time” Catholic. I would go to Mass most Sundays and attended Catholic schools, but never really put any thought into why I believe what I believed. This began to change in high school, but quickly stopped as soon as I headed off to college. Over the next several years, I underwent a total loss of faith. I was in a new city, with new friends, and without the knowledge and discipline to maintain my faith. It was only four years later, after transferring to a new school and making the decision to pursue what I believed to be true that I found myself believing in the faith. Now, I strive to be a Catholic in every aspect of my life, living out my faith in both word and action.
It is my dream to be able to do for others what has been done for me! However, I cannot do this alone. With your support, I am able to go out and make a difference in other young people lives, and bring them into relationship with Jesus Christ. However we go about it, this is our highest calling as Catholics.
We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
