We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
Welcome! My name is Ryan and I’m a FOCUS Missionary.
Come and encounter Christ together with me!
I currently serve the students at the University of Northern Iowa (Cedar Falls, Iowa) as I finish up my degree in Instrumental/General Music Education. UNI has been my home for the last 4 years and I’m excited to call the FOCUS missionaries there my teammates. Next Spring, God will call me to serve students at a different University in the U.S.
During my early years of college, I struggled with perfectionism, lack of worthiness, isolation, and fear of failure. Even though I was active at the Catholic student center since I was a freshman at UNI, I was lost from God. I found God calling me to recenter myself and run to Him. From there, God led me to build a deeper relationship with himself and others around me. I felt more like myself than I did in the previous eight years. My radical conversion is due to the work of God through the FOCUS missionaries at UNI who lived with God in the center of their lives and led the bible studies I participated in. I looked up to them as another older sibling, and they always pointed me to Jesus. I was amazed by their spiritual life and how they shared the gospels outwardly to students. The changes I made moved me enough that I desired to give back what I had and search deeper into my relationship with God as a FOCUS missionary. As a missionary, I seek to imitate Christ by bringing others to God and to grow in sonship.
We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
