I am a second year missionary who serves with team Birmingham! While home base is Samford University, I also have the joy to work with students at The University of Alabama at Birmingham and Birmingham-Southern College.

I started college looking for joy, and I learned where to start looking after a simple trip to go get coffee with a FOCUS missionary named Becca at Southern Miss. She asked me all about Jesus, who He was to me, how He fit into my life, and she did so with love and a desire to understand. She shared a glimpse of her relationship with the Lord with me in that time, and I knew right away I wanted to know the God that she knew.

With the help of the FOCUS missionaries at Southern Miss, I went to SEEK, an amazing FOCUS conference, where I really encountered Jesus in the Eucharist for the first time in my life. I then was blessed to participate in Summer Projects 2019 where I learned what it meant to live like Jesus is Lord and grew in mission through discipleship and Bible study.

Jesus, like the gentleman He is, continued to pursue my heart very gently but firmly when I returned to campus through challenging me to live mission in discipleship and leading a Bible Study. However, it was through developing relationships of authentic friendship in these places that the heart of Jesus was shown to me most clearly. It started with Becca making a gift of herself to me, and it has continued through missionaries, sorority sisters, and members of my Catholic student center.  I said “yes!” to being a FOCUS missionary because I want bring Jesus, through friendship, to the women I am called to love with joy and laughter!

When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I’ve been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus.
